Sound-Based Practices
Overview
I help people reconnect with themselves by cultivating greater presence, nervous system regulation, and inner peace.
My certification in sound healing and somatic approaches has expanded the ways I can support others in slowing down, reconnecting with their bodies, and cultivating a deeper sense of presence and awareness.
The gentle vibrations of crystal singing bowls, combined with intentional breathing and mindful awareness, can create conditions that support relaxation, grounding, and nervous system regulation. In a world where many of us spend long periods in states of stress or protection, sound offers an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and cultivate a greater sense of safety and ease.
The Connection Between Sound, Body, and Energy
The beauty of sound and energy field work lies in the ability to engage the body on a deeper, somatic level.
Sound has been used across cultures for centuries to support meditation, reflection, healing, and inner connection. While research continues to explore how sound influences the body and nervous system, many people experience sound-based practices as deeply calming and restorative.
Some traditions understand sound through the lens of the bio-energy field (the subtle energy believed to surround the body). For those who resonate with this perspective, sound may be experienced as supporting balance and harmony. Others simply experience sound as a mindfulness-based practice that fosters relaxation, body awareness, and presence.
My approach honors both perspectives. Whether you connect with the science of nervous system regulation, the energetic aspects of sound, or simply enjoy the experience of deep rest, sound healing is offered as a gentle, supportive practice that complements the therapeutic process.
Services
When clinically appropriate and aligned with your treatment goals, I may incorporate sound-based practices as one of many experiential approaches within counseling sessions. This may include crystal singing bowls, guided mindfulness, breathwork, grounding exercises, or other sound-based practices to support relaxation, present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, and a deeper connection with your body.
Each experience is thoughtfully tailored to your goals and comfort level. Sessions may include grounding practices, intentional breathing, and the use of crystal singing bowls, placed around or on the body, to create gentle vibrations that many people experience as calming and restorative. For clients who resonate with an energetic framework, sessions may also include a bio-energy field assessment and heart-centered practices that support a sense of balance and alignment.
I believe in integrating traditional talk therapy with experiential, body-centered approaches because healing often involves more than words alone. Whether you're processing trauma, navigating stress or life transitions, or simply seeking a deeper sense of connection and well-being, sound-based practices can complement therapy by supporting presence, self-awareness, and nervous system regulation.
Individualized Sessions
Facilitating sound healing on the body
In a world that’s constantly on-the-go, sound baths offer a chance to let go, pause recalibrate, and allow the body to remember what it feels like to be at ease - A sonic bath for the soul!
Attendees are immersed in the resonant tones of crystal singing bowls, creating a balanced blend of high and low frequencies that promote deep relaxation and energetic renewal. Sessions begin with a brief meditation to center the mind, followed by the sound bath, and ending with loving-kindness affirmations. I allocate time afterward for reflection, should you be interested in chatting further about your experience. These group sessions are a great way to connect with others while receiving the healing benefits of sound.

Frequently Asked Questions

Crystal singing bowls (as seen in photos above) are musical instruments made from pure quartz crystal, known for their ability to produce rich, resonant sounds. The crystal singing bowls themselves are tuned to specific frequencies - When played, they create vibrations that ripple through the body, coaxing muscles to relax, soothing overactive thoughts, and clearing out emotional blockages. There are also specific sequences to play the bowls, in order to foster specific intentions (e.g. nervous system balance, quality sleep, grief).
Here is an example of what they sound like!

Sound-based practices may combine both on and off-body techniques, allowing for a comprehensive experience that works on both the physical and energetic levels. The bowls placed on the body may release physical tension, while those surrounding the body focus on emotional or energetic processing.
When the crystal singing bowls are placed directly on or near the body, the vibrations are felt more intensely and can help promote energy flow. The vibrations of the bowls are believed to penetrate deep into the body’s tissues, stimulating the nervous system and helping to release blockages or stored trauma. Key areas include:
Stomach (solar plexus and digestive area)
Back (spine and lower back, where tension often accumulates)
In between legs (to balance the root and sacral chakras, aiding in grounding and emotional release)
Chest/Heart area (for heart chakra healing and emotional release)
When crystal singing bowls are played near the body, the vibrations still interact with your energy field but without direct physical contact. In this method, the sound waves travel through the air. This approach works well with the body's subtle energy field (often referred to as the bio-energy field).

Emerging research suggests that sound-based interventions, including singing bowls, may support relaxation, improve mood, and reduce perceived stress for some participants. While additional research is needed, many people find these practices to be a helpful complement to mindfulness and other wellness approaches.
While the research base is still developing, early studies have found improvements in relaxation, mood, and perceived stress following sound-based interventions, such as gongs, singing bowls, and tuning forks.

All attendees/clients are required to complete an informed consent waiver, prior to services, which includes the following:
There are risks and benefits associated with participation in any energetic method or sound-based technique. While impossible to anticipate all risks and/or benefits, it is my obligation to alert clients that such risks and benefits are possible. Any sound therapy engagement is for relaxation purposes only and is not meant to replace medical care nor is it meant to replace the care of a licensed physician.
Risks:
In any activity or engagement with sound-based practices, it is important that you take care of yourself. It is your responsibility to know your boundaries and limits and not go beyond them! Sound-based practices may bring up feelings of sadness, anger, fear, or anxiety. These feelings may be more apparent because you are being encouraged to pay attention to them as they arise. You are encouraged to stop at any point that these feelings are uncomfortable.
If you have a pre-existing psychological condition, a history of abuse, drug use or addiction, or trauma, these reactions can be heightened, and this experience is not recommended without first consulting a physician. Energy techniques and practices can be an adjunct, but not a substitute, to professional care. Please be sure to read the contraindications list and consult with your doctor.
Contraindications:
Those with the following conditions should consult their doctor first, before any use of sound-based practices or bio-energy-field balancing:
• Those who are pregnant
• Those with carotid stenosis (prior to application in the area of the carotid artery/larynx)
• Those with cardiac pacemakers, artificial heart valves, or cardiac arrhythmias
• Those with a stent OR a shunt
• Those with a deep brain stimulation device (DBS)
• Those with epileptic seizure disorder/ epilepsy
• Treatment should not commence until at least three days after injury for: Whiplash
Consult a physician if any unusual or uncomfortable symptoms arise. This energetic technique is for relaxation purposes only.
Aftercare:
A feeling of “detoxing” may occur after a session. It is important to drink plenty of water to not only keep you hydrated but also to allow any toxins released by the sound healing to be flushed from the body! Following the session, it's best to take it easy, rest, relax, go for a walk and avoid stressful situations.
